FAQs
What can I expect prior to surgery from the Facility?
Ascent Surgery Center will email/text a Pre-Admission Questionnaire and Pre-Admission Instructions to you once your surgery is scheduled. If you do not complete these, Ascent will follow-up with a phone call to confirm your surgery time and important information (past medical history, allergies and current medications) needed prior to surgery.
What is Ascent Surgery Center doing to reduce the risks during COVID-19?
Ascent Surgery Center takes pride in keeping patients and staff safe. Protocols begin once a patient is scheduled:
Patient COVID-19 testing is performed prior to surgery by the scheduling office.
Upon arrival, patients are screened with temperature checks and questionnaire. Masks are worn at all times by patients and staff. (If masks are needed, one will be provided.)
One visitor/family member will be allowed in the facility. (If the patient is a minor, one parent or legal guardian will be allowed with the patient.)
Employees will wear masks, appropriate attire, practice social distancing and perform proper hand hygiene.
Housekeeping measures exceed the CDC recommendations by using integrated HEPA filters within all patient care areas and monthly UVC treatments throughout the Center on a monthly basis.
How much will my surgery cost?
Ascent Surgery Center will call you and confirm your medical benefits from your carrier prior to surgery. Please remember that your Facility Fee is not all-inclusive. Additional costs will be charged by your physician, anesthesiologist, and any other related billable items (ex: laboratory, pathology, implants).
Will I owe anything the day of surgery?
It is the patient’s responsibility to pay any co-pay or deductible amount to Ascent Surgery Center upon check-in the day of surgery. The patient or caregiver will be notified prior to the day of surgery with the amount due.
Can I drive myself home?
Any patient undergoing anesthesia will not be discharged from the facility without a family member or caregiver to transport them home. For your safety, it is best to have someone with you for the first 24 hours after surgery. If you do not have a ride, please call your physician’s office to reschedule your surgery.
What should I bring with me the day of surgery?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Depending on the type of surgery you are having, it might be best to wear a button down top, so it does not have to be pulled over the operation site.
Please bring your current insurance or Medicare card(s), photo ID and payment due. Ascent Surgery Center accepts MasterCard, VISA, AMEX, personal* and cashier's checks. (For further details, please visit our financial information page.)
Should I remove any jewelry, contacts, or other items?
Please leave all valuables at home. Remove all jewelry, contacts and piercings. Any dentures or prosthetic devices can be removed once in the Pre-op area.
When will I get to see my family after surgery?
Under most circumstances, once you are in the recovery room and are awake, your family will be able to sit with you until it is time to be discharged.
Please note that the number of family members may vary depending on the number of patients in the PACU.
What should I expect after surgery?
Upon discharge, Ascent Surgery Center will give you printed discharge instructions. Please follow the instructions carefully. Should you have any questions, contact your physician’s office. Expect an email/text from the Facility with a Post-Surgery Questionnaire. If you would please fill this out, so that we may better care for our patients.
